In June, our popular Partners in Design event series continues with a special presentation from McDaniels’ very own design team! Each month, we welcome a new design partner to our Lansing, MI showroom to share with us their background, business journey, and expertise. We welcome a wide range of businesses that share their products and services, giving us a unique insight into what our hometown has to offer. We have also hosted volunteer organizations that do amazing work throughout Lansing and beyond.
Our Partners in Design Events
Over the past four years, we have welcomed a wide range of local businesses, service providers, and voluntary organizations to our Lansing, MI showroom. Our monthly Partners in Design events offer a unique opportunity to connect with our local community and introduce community members to the numerous businesses and organizations located right on our doorstep. Each design partner shares their own experience, business journey, and their unique products and services. From art galleries to boutiques, food establishments, gift stores, and much more, it’s amazing to see the variety of businesses available to us. We have even had some of the area’s amazing voluntary organizations that provide invaluable services to our community.
June’s Design Partner: “I’m Staying Home…Safely” Presented by the McDaniels Team
June gave us an opportunity to feature our own talented design team! The McDaniels team has been providing an informative and engaging presentation to senior centers throughout Lansing and beyond called “I’m Staying Home…Safely”. We have visited senior centers throughout the area with this 45-minute presentation, which covers how to avoid falling in your own home environment and top tips for aging in place safely. We cover a variety of options, including low-cost/low-effort, medium-cost/medium-effort, and high-cost/high-effort modifications. Our presentation and handouts have been very well received, and we enjoyed the opportunity to share it with our Partners in Design participants.
Our June Event
Nicole Raysin represented the McDaniels design team at our June Partners in Design event, where she shared top tips for home designs that allow you to age in place safely. Nicole covered:
- Low Effort/Low Cost ideas including completing a safety checklist, removing throw rugs, changing hardware from knobs to lever, and more.
- Medium Effort/Medium Cost ideas, such as installing grab bars in the bathroom, installing a pocket door in place of a swing-out door, installing double handrails at the entrance to the home, and more.
- High Effort/High Cost Ideas, including completely refiguring the bathroom layout, positioning grab bars throughout the bathroom, installing a floating vanity, improving lighting in each room, and more.
The presentation was very well received, and all the useful tips were appreciated by our participants!
